Posted by Jerlyn in Inspiration, My Life in NYC on April 17, 2009
Tonight I went with some friends to a Fashion Illustrator’s exhibit in K-Town. Her name is Yonghee Kim. I really loved these. The Collage was done very well also. Lovely watercolor… I don’t know much about fashion illsutration and I’m not one to analyze art but I think her pieces are underpriced. Here’s some of her beautiful art:
Subway adventure # 2
Posted by Jerlyn in My Life in NYC on April 17, 2009
Haha I haven’t blogged anything of substance in awhile… Trying to free up my schedule.
There really needs to be a manual for riding the subway in the mornings. Especially when I just had my coffee and it hadn’t settled in.
- Absolutely no interrupting fellow passengers with your own soundtrack.
Keep noises to yourself or friends (speaking, iPod etc. No playing your own soundtrack!). Also, I didn’t ask for entertainment so don’t perform and expect me to pay you. Go after tourists, they are usually at 42nd st, Grand Central or at WallStreet! Also please stop preaching? - Bring napkins to blow your nose!
Definitely no sneezing into your hands and wiping it on the poles (ick – yah I’ve seen someone do this) - Do not take up two seats!
It’s apparent that we are have a serious overweight problem in NYC, it’s an epidemic in the outer boroughs. Sometimes I am carrying my laptop and 4 AS3 books, I’d like to sit and not strain my back… or that nice old woman would love to sit also. It’s not only just overweight people, I hate seeing young capable men with their feet spread out to prevent another person from sitting. - Keep your kids away from me! They may be cute, frankly I do not care. Tell them to keep quiet so they don’t end up kicking my shoes, shins or bag!
- Wait for people to get off the train before you get on. It’s not a race, the train’s not really leaving you. The conductors are trained to make sure you get on before that person who actually is running to catch it.
Well, that was my rant. You may write more if you’d like.
Making a Make-up Bag
Eh, I am getting a new apartment so I’ve been budgeting. Instead of purchasing a bag, I decided to sew one. After all, it’s just to store my makeup. This is in progress and I haven’t really sewed in awhile.

As some of you know, I bought a new photography lighting kit and I have been trying some things. My friend Kimmie and I tested it out yesterday and I did some very quick touches. Here’s the result:
Design Lady Tweettips
So n00bs there might be a few things about twitter that you should learn before someone gets offended. This was posted for some people who have been asking me of my twitter activities lately
.
1. There is such a thing as auto direct messaging – some people that you follow may seem like they are chatting by sending you an automatic “thank you for adding me” other automatic features: auto follow, autotweets
2. Friend or Follow exists, qwitter (Catches Twitter Quitters) and socialToo.com can send your stats.
3. If you’re seeing too much of one persons tweets written hours apart then you probably not following enough people or aren’t aware of filters.
4. Asking for followers is just annoying also “do not say how many followers you have we can all see it in your profile” (Thanks via @passionsista).
5. You don’t need to read all tweets, so check your @replies instead of sorting through all the tweets for the day.
6. You can filter @replies with numerous apps
7. There are widgets, plugins and AIR apps on the web to make tweeting a lot easier: PowerTwitter, Tweetdeck, DestroyTwitter – to name a few
8. Don’t criticize how someone uses twitter, just unfollow if you don’t like it.
9. Don’t feel swayed by big wigs most of them are in a popularity contest by themselves.
10. Make use of topics by using #hashtags
bonus: Be yourself [via @passionsista]
