Posted by Jerlyn in Jerlyn, Miscellaneous on March 14, 2010
I mentioned getting my milestone portrait done by Pari Dukovic. Here’s one of them. I love it! There’s still more to come but please let me know what you think. I will have a final vote on which one gets printed! Joy!
A Rose
Posted by Jerlyn in My Life in NYC, Photography on October 13, 2009
I love flowers, well plants that bloom flowers. I’ve always thought that if something is continually growing it’d last longer. Anyway, I truly love taking photos of them. Here’s a few that I found on my harddrive and thought I’d share. I have others that I may post later.
This is a rose that I received after a date sometime last year, and I was simply intrigued by the patterns that the plastic wrapper around it was forming.
I was inspired to go back and find these when I took a photo of flowers with my camera phone this morning:

Samuel Fusso | Photographer

I came across this article about Samuel Fosso today and thought this is a great idea! He photographs himself in different outfits and disguises.. This is definitely something that I would like to try one day since my DSLR is collecting dust currently since my move.
Samuel Fosso is one of the most renowned and prodigious young African photographers. His fantastical portraits of different types of people – from African Chiefs to American women – are revealed, upon closer inspection, to be self-portraits. A witty and ironic exploration of self-identity, Fosso’s work has been shown in major global venues such as the Photographers’ Gallery in London and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
Here’s some of Samuel Fosso’s work:

I am writing spotlights of artists that I admire. Artists, comprising of designers, programmers, etc. Today I am writing about a colleague of mine, Pari Dukovic. He’s my Greek friend from Turkey, yes he grew up there. I always thought he had an awesome name for a photographer.

I did promise myself to purchase the new issue of Time Magazine because my friend Pari Dukovic retouched the cover however I wasn’t able to get around to it as yet. I found it online… so Congratulations Pari!

I know Pari from college and he has taken some past images of me including everyone’s favorite:

I wanted to display some of Pari’s other work, which can also be seen on his site.
He has been working mostly in black and white lately, which is fine because those were always my favorites. I love how he captures passion and emotions and his use of space and patterns. The images always look interesting.
