We Become More Digital When We Think Multiscreen
I wrote an article for Convergent Times. I reposted it below (after the image) but check out the original posting here. ————————————— (image from emediatrade) Any designer who works on apps for mobile phones is tasked with an important decision: Which screen size should I propose for the final application? Some quick research reveals that in the United States, less than 5% of mobile screens are 320 pixels and higher. The iPhone is a simple 320 x 480 pixel screen. Most Nokia screens are 240 x 340 pixels, and Blackberry screens are quite interchangeable. But the resolutions just mentioned aren’t the only screens that will need content adjustments as technology evolves. Thinking multiscreen—not only in development,…
Climb for MS
“Having multiple sclerosis means that you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are different for everyone – the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.” I joined a team at my company to Climb for Multiple Sclerosis in March. It’s 66 flights of stairs. Which is a very short distance for this disease to be honest. So far my friends and social network has helped me raise $250 and I am deeply honored and proud of this. Thank you to…
Testing the Inkling
I got a new toy this week. It’s the Wacom Inkling if you don’t know what it is, check out the video: I was finally able to do a few tests with the inkling so here’s one that came out pretty decently (if you noticed from the original it lost the earrings that I sketched in last minute): I like that I can export it into Photoshop, Sketchbook pro and Illustrator. Not only that, I can replay my sketch! Here’s a quick video that I did with the player: I hope to post some more soon after I’ve spent time mastering it.
DIY Projects FTW!
I’m no carpenter but this is what I built over the weekend: It’s a container to contain my containers haha. I built it with my powertools and used my handsaw that I got from Home Depot . The parts are from recycled parts from under my IKEA bedframe and an old college tv stand. So, it even has wheels…
Goodbye 2011
To be fair, I really enjoyed 2011. I had a good time. It had some parts that were down but definitely mostly up. You thought that I would miss my year-end wrap up, didn’t you? Well, since I wrote them for past years, I figured why stop now… even if it’s already the New Year. Happy New Year by the way! January I started the year training for a half marathon. I was a running machine! I remember going further than I had with each passing week and I felt so accomplished! I was also freelancing and enjoying every moment of it. I learned how to make chili. I loved the city even more after…
My Christmas in Photos
I usually avoid this time of year because it’s a to do. I mean to appear like Scrooge but I understand why everyone else might think that I’m forcing myself to. It’s just that I think I can enjoy Christmas by simply enjoying my time off and hanging around friends… just relaxed with good food and entertainment. I tried to skip out of gifting this year so I’m really sorry if you didn’t receive cards/gifts from me. Thank you for those who sent me things, I will keep that in mind for when your birthday occurs god-willing in 2012. Anyway, here’s my Christmas in photos: I received a giftcard from Adobe in the mail. I…
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil
I completed a new series of paintings which I started a few weeks ago last night. I used purple and yellow hues to compliment the colors in my bedroom. To add something signature, I decided to make it glow under black light. I know, abit creepy but a fun twist. I love Black Light Paint, this is the finish product: To be honest, I loved the progression before applying the lines but nonetheless, it’s now a great addition to my bedroom walls. The black light makes it a little ghouly and fun.
Happy Holidays
A few weeks ago I worked on a card for my company’s holiday card website. I thought it was abit rushed but people loved it around work. The task was to draw something that represented how we celebrated the holidays. Naturally, I took to designing something with Mocko Jumbies representing island life. I miss St. Croix. The cards were hung around the office. They also took photos of them for the website. This is the finished website. Check it out and share. Happy Holidays from the cement boc.
Coming to terms
Appropriate title for an proper time… There were many things that I had to come to terms with this year such as relationships, jobs, life in general. Also, a little legal situation that I was asked not to discuss via the Internet but I can possibly reveal in a biography or if the company tanks (life is funny like that, anything can happen). I’ve had quite a few years of experience in life in general and it’s like I learn something significant each year or few months where I literally want to smack myself from realizing before… But as they say, hindsight is 20/20. For example, it took me years and months to get over…

Google TV is getting an update!
Google TV is about to be updated and I’m really excited to try the new interface. Currently, I’ve just been using it to stream Vevo. Here’s what’s in store according to the email: “The interface is now much simpler. The new customizable home screen gets you to your favorite content quickly. And within “all apps” you can see all of your shortcuts, similar to your Android phone or tablet.” This is exciting news because I did find it abit complicated when I use other devices then try using the Google TV interface. “We’ve improved search across the board for content from live TV, Netflix, YouTube, HBO GO, and more. But what if you don’t know…
Evil spirits, nightmares and sleep paralysis
After this post I imagine varying responses. The Christians will say that I need to seek God, some will be worried, others might think I lied and those who have experienced this and whose minds are scientific will realize that might have simply been stressed out. A couple of nights ago I had an extremely weird experience. I had a somewhat similar one a few years ago in college. I’ll start with the college story: (image source on Corbis) It was possibly near finals and I out because of deadlines, not eating right and was sleep deprived. I finally had the opportunity at that time to nap between classes so I went home and passed…
